These gorgeous bags are handcrafted in Cape Town from reclaimed, unused cotton.

The Mielie mission is to design and produce innovative, handcrafted products using reclaimed materials and in doing so create employment and restore dignity and financial independence to South Africans.

They are called 'Mielie' bags because that is the name for corn in Africa. The hooked rug bags have a similar appearance to corn which is the staple diet of Africa.
