We visited an organic farm in Harare where farm workers' wives and sisters create unusual jewellery by recycling magazines and bottle caps. Read more and view pictures of our visit at The Vagabond Adventures.
These one-of-a-kind earrings are made in Zimbabwe from cow horn and bone by an enterprising man called Joseph. He has invented a machine which helps him to carve and buff the horn and bone, bringing out the beauty of these natural materials and giving the earrings their polished finish. These designs are exclusive to Vagabond Van. Check out The Vagabond Adventures' blog post for more information and photos from our visit.
Chip Bags These Chip Bags are hand woven by a woman called Penane in Maun, Botswana. Her daughter called Onalenna (which means ‘I am with her’) and friends collect discarded chip packets and sweetie wrappers (this is what gives the bags their futuristic shine) and Penane expertly recycles these by weaving them with reeds to make the bags. They belong to the tribe called Okavango Hambukushu. Check out The Vagabond Adventures' blog post for more information and photos from their visit.
